Welcome to my corner of the web! I’m Lindsay Hill, a dedicated advocate for adults with intellectual disabilities, leveraging over 13 years of experience as a secondary self-contained special education teacher. My career has been profoundly shaped by the relationships I’ve built with students and families alike.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I share a busy personal life with my husband Richard, whom I’ve been married to since 2012. Together, we’re raising three wonderful children. Our eldest son, a spirited 9-year-old, keeps us on our toes with his love for baseball and the outdoors. Meanwhile, our dynamic twins, aged 7, each pursue their own passions. Our daughter excels in art and cheerleading, while our son is dedicated to baseball and soccer.
My journey as a classroom teacher has taught me the paramount importance of relationships in education. Through nurturing these connections, with students and parents alike, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative impact they have on fostering independence and empowering individuals with disabilities
I hold a Specialist in Special Education from the University of West Georgia, a Masters in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University, and a B.S. in Special Education from Georgia College & State University. My credentials include certifications in SPED Math, Reading, Science, Language Arts, Social Science Cognitive Level (P-5, 4-8), SPED General Curriculum (P-12) Consultative, and SPED Adapted Curriculum (P-12), complemented by Crisis Prevention Intervention, CPR and First Aid Certifications.
During my tenure at Pope High School, where I was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2022-2023, I initiated and managed impactful programs. I ran a student-run Coffee Shop, providing practical skills and vocational training to students with disabilities. I served as a sponsor for Habitat for Humanity, empowering students to engage in meaningful community service. Additionally, I was the Best Buddies Club sponsor, fostering inclusive friendships and support networks among students. I also planned and led inclusive field trips and events, ensuring that every student had the opportunity to participate fully in enriching experiences outside the classroom.
These experiences solidified my belief in the lasting impact of supportive relationships and inclusive practices. They have inspired me to continue dedicating myself to creating environments where adults with intellectual disabilities can thrive and grow independently.
Join me in creating a future where diversity is celebrated, and every individual’s potential is realized. Together, we can build a community where everyone has the opportunity to flourish and contribute meaningfully to society.
